Project Description
The Marigold Foundation held a fund raising dinner in aid of the newly founded The National Alliance for Rare Diseases Support – Malta on the day after its official launch on Thursday, 18 February 2016. To introduce this newly-formed Alliance and to raise funds towards its aims, The Marigold Foundation organised an evening of music and creativity, followed by Dinner in the Orange Gardens at Villa Francia, Lija.
During the event, Mrs Michelle Muscat, Chairperson of The Marigold Foundation and The National Alliance for Rare Diseases Support – Malta spoke about the Alliance and how it will take a central role in helping existing entities, which already work with people with rare diseases, to take their cause to a higher level and to provide a network for patients to get the necessary support.
Mrs Muscat also introduced the guest of honour for the night, Mr Sean Hepburn Ferrer, EURORDIS Rare Disease Ambassador, who endured the loss of his mother, Audrey Hepburn, due to a rare disease. Mr Hepburn Ferrer stated that he was honoured to be there and to offer his support to the National Alliance for Rare Diseases Support – Malta.
Part of the evening’s entertainment included fashion and dance which together, in an artistic way, portrayed the change in a person’s daily life on the discovery of a rare disease. The well-attended evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all and augured well for future events to support The National Alliance for Rare Diseases Support – Malta.
